Littlemill Testament is the oldest Littlemill release to date with the liquid taken from a single distillation date of 4th October 1976.

CASK SELECTION

As this is an incredibly well aged Littlemill liquid, it receives special attention from our Master Blender, Michael Henry, who has been monitoring these casks closely.

Re-casked in 1996 from their original casks and into American oak Hogsheads, Michael selected three from these, vatting them together into two first fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads for a further 4 month maturation before vatting together for a final two months prior to bottling.

Only 250 Bottles Available Worldwide

Distilled on the 11th of October in 1977, this exceptional 45-year-old whisky came from Littlemill’s patented straight-neck copper pot hybrid stills, designed by its engineers and scientists in the early 1900’s.

The careful selection and finishing of this very special release embodies the true Littlemill character. It’s intriguing to think that this whisky was chosen to be kept back and gently matured thereafter in refill American Oak for four decades, before being selected and re-casked for a final five-year finish in first-fill Oloroso Sherry hogsheads.

This traditional choice of finishing wood is meticulously documented in the distillery’s records, and complements the delicate floral nature of this summertime, Lowland single malt whisky. Natural in colour and cask strength, only 250 bottles of this rare piece of history exist... for a very fortunate few to own.

Our People
Littlemill Testament Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Age of Elegance

Littlemill has always taken pride in the expert craftsmanship and unrivalled history of its single malt whiskies.

Contained in each box is an exclusive dress stopper that has been created using treasured remnants of the distillery building. Expert craftspeople have delicately shaped original pieces of stone, glass, slate, or wood, directly salvaged from the old Distillery Manager’s house, before mounting each in a brass casing atop a crystal peg. A true testament to the past, each stopper brings the rich history of the Littlemill Distillery back to life, so close in fact, that you can touch it.

Tasting Notes

by Michael Henry, Master Blender

Nose

Crisp green apple and zesty grapefruit with fragrant elderflower and ginger.

Palate

Fresh, vibrant fruit, tangy pineapple and juicy peach with lime citrus. There is a melted brown sugar sweetness, some dried peel and creamy vanilla.

Finish

Long with mouth watering fruit, gooseberry and water melon, gently warming cinnamon and nutmeg spice.

Quite unlike anything else, Littlemill is a beautiful summer whisky, whose characteristics reveal gentle vanilla and floral notes on the nose, with the sweetness of honey and creamy fudge, accompanied on the palate by classic Lowland fresh fruits. It’s an entirely unique and very special character, which we work hard to preserve without compromise.
