The Vanguards

Between Littlemill’s founding and its lamentable closure lies a remarkable legacy shaped by pioneers and quiet trailblazers. Drawn from the distillery’s oldest remaining reserves, this four-part series honours those vanguards through an exceptional collaboration with kindred spirits and partner artists, reviving the past for a fortunate few as we open the second chapter of Littlemill’s legacy.

What is the Vanguards

Up until its final days, Littlemill Distillery continued to innovate and produce exceptional Lowland malt whisky of great character. Using water sourced north of the Highland line in the Kilpatrick Hills, peat from Stornoway and malt from Perthshire, the Littlemill whiskies reflect a beautiful summer whisky, whose characteristics reveal gentle vanilla and floral notes on the nose with the sweetness of honey and creamy fudge which continues onto the palate with classic Lowland fruit flavours.

Michael Henry, Master Blender

The Last Guardian

Today, one last custodian of the legacy of Littlemill remains: a guardian of the past traditions and innovations that set this rare single malt Scotch whisky apart.

During their final years of maturation, the casks that contained this exceptionally rare liquid were under the constant, personal supervision of our Master Blender, Michael Henry. With over 30 years industry experience and direct responsibility for all remaining Littlemill liquid, no one has a more erudite, intimate understanding of the character of the last remaining whisky of this lost distillery - and how to preserve it.
